I created this artwork to inspire young Black children and remind them that they are beautiful, brave and strong, and that they can and will rise above the oppression they are seeing today.

"I Rise" is from the poem by Maya Angelou, "Still, I Rise". I hope it will inspire you as well and that together, we can make a difference.

This unique and original hand embroidery pattern has easy to follow instructions that guarantee that you will create a lovely finished product. Even if you've never embroidered before, give this design a try, you won't regret it!

The pattern file has black lines only, visit my tutorials here to learn the easy watercolor tinting technique I used for the background fabric!

You will receive a PDF file containing an 8.5x11 inch black and white file for you to print and embroider. The file contains a 6 inch and a 4 inch version of the design. Also included is an additional "Tips n Stitches" PDF with beginner embroidery instructions, transfer techniques, colors and stitch diagrams. As soon as you purchase this item, you will have immediate access to instantly download the PDF files.
